Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Artifacts

Artifacts are how exploration becomes damage reduction. In 1996 a secret was a medpack and a story you told on a forum. In 2027 a secret is a node on a tree that lets you survive the next pack.

What an artifact is for

Collect it, gain skill points, spend them on the skill tree. That is the published loop. There is no separate XP bar in the interviews. If you skip a Peru cave you are not only skipping a statue, you are skipping a later healing node. That is why region walkthroughs keep telling you to dive. Scanner lore objects may overlap with artifacts or sit beside them; until the HUD exists we treat 'relic you can pick up' as a skill candidate.

How to hunt them before maps exist

Look where 1996 hid secrets: above water, behind a climb that looks like decoration, past a jump that is slightly out of the way. The Lost Valley demo already rewarded that habit with materials. Greece's verticality will hide more. Egypt's beam path will tempt you to stay on rails; step off the rails. The walkthrough hub will grow checklists. This page will grow names. Neither will invent a fake 47-count from the original Sanctuary and call it 2027 data.

Artifacts are not Scion fragments

Search overlap is real. People type 'Scion piece' when they mean a shiny pickup, and 'artifact' when they mean the plot device. On this wiki the Scion is story — three fragments, three tombs, Natla's theft — and lives on the Scion page. Artifacts are the skill currency. Eating the plot by accident is how you skip a cutscene and still feel underleveled. If a mural wants to be scanned, scan it for lore. If an object wants to be pocketed, pocket it for the tree. If you are unsure, take both notes and keep moving. Peru is generous. The pyramid will not be.

After launch, this page will add names, unique versus repeatable, and whether a missed Peru relic can be recovered. Until then the rule is simple: if you can climb to it, try. If the scanner whispers lore, read it. If it goes in a pocket, spend it on the next fight you actually failed, not on a late-game fantasy node you have not seen.

Frequently asked questions

Are artifacts the same as secrets? +

Spiritually yes, mechanically they fund skills instead of only ammo.

Do they have lore text? +

The scanner is built to read objects. Expect text. We do not have the library yet.

Can I buy points another way? +

Not in any published system. Explore.

What if I miss one? +

Unknown whether you can return. Assume some chapters lock. Explore before you pull the last switch.
