Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Peru Walkthrough
Peru is the tutorial that refuses to hold your hand. The Lost Valley rebuilds the series' most famous water-and-gear puzzle, then drops you into raptor combat and a T-Rex chase. This chapter is the most complete walkthrough on the wiki because it is the chapter people have actually played.
What the demo actually contains
Summer Game Fest 2026 sessions placed players in the Lost Valley with a single job: restore a waterfall regulator so a hidden door will open toward Qualopec. Two cogs are required. The first is nearby. The second is not marked. Experience director Jeff Adams said handing Lara a GPS would break the fantasy of being her. Game director Raul Siqueira countered that the game is not meant to feel cruel — guidance, puzzle difficulty, and combat difficulty can be raised or lowered independently.
Expect a compact sandbox rather than a hallway. Side paths hide collectibles and crafting materials. Diving into the pool with Circle can reveal caves. Natural-looking handholds replace neon climb paint. If you are lost, use the optional scanner once, then put it away. The point of this region is learning to read water, rope, and stone the way Lara would.
Solving the Lost Valley cog puzzle
The regulator sits in a small pond. Preview players described lining up gears to hush the waterfall, then watching the door beyond come alive. One cog is straightforward. The other sits on an ancient wooden contraption higher in the valley. The published solution path is climb, swing, and kick the gear loose so it rides the stream down to the mechanism. Align both cogs, restore the machine, stop the water, take the door.
The rebuild is more than a visual upgrade. Rooms that were self-contained in 1996 now open into semi-connected spaces, and the wrist grapple can tug objects as well as span gaps. A second Peru puzzle uses quipus — knotted Incan cords — as a lever pattern you reconstruct after searching the valley. Pay attention to knot differences. That is the kind of cultural reading Crystal Dynamics wants in this chapter, not a flashing interact prompt.
Raptors, then the T-Rex
Once the door opens, the jungle stops being a museum. Velociraptors (feathered in this version) burst from foliage. Dual pistols fire on hold of R2 in the PlayStation preview; L2 tightens aim. Circle dives, rolls, and cartwheels. Stay moving. This is not a cover shooter. Raptors telegraph lunges, pack members circle, and the last survivor of a pack goes berserk. Headshots matter. Preview players complained that small raptors soaked extra bullets; gamescom 2026 directors said packs now think and evade instead of soaking a straight line of fire. Spend Focus (R1) for slow-motion cartwheels when the pack collapses distance. Pack tactics live on how to beat dinosaurs.
Deeper in the valley a tyrannosaurus breaks the trees. The demo treated this as a chase: sprint, slide a muddy slope, make a precise leap, climb fast. Raptors flee with you. It ended on a cliffhanger with the T-Rex closing in. For the chase itself, open the dedicated T-Rex guide. Keep a shotgun for anything that enters ten meters before the trees break.
Vilcabamba, Qualopec, and what Peru is hiding
Official footage and voice lines point at the City of Vilcabamba and Qualopec's tomb as the wider Peru frame. Lara notes a bunker built for a hibernating ruler and questions a worshipped figure that may be Qualopec. Atlantean imagery in the Andes is the first breadcrumb of the Scion plot. Treat Qualopec as the first triumvirate member, not a random tomb boss. When the chapter ships, this page will add room-by-room secrets. Until then, explore every off-path ruin; artifacts here are the first skill points you will actually feel in Greece.
If you came from another region, loop back through the Greece walkthrough next, or return to the walkthrough hub for the full expedition order. Peru is also the best place to test controls before the puzzles get architectural.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the second cog in the Lost Valley? +
Preview players found it attached to a wooden contraption above the stream. Climb and swing to it, kick it loose, and let water carry it to the regulator. The game is deliberately light on waypoints.
Do I have to use the scanner? +
No. Scanner hints are optional. Raise guidance if you stall, but the designers want the valley to be readable through environment cues.
Can the T-Rex be killed in the demo? +
The shown sequence is a chase set piece, not a standing boss fight. The demo ended as the T-Rex closed in.
What should I collect in Peru? +
Artifacts for skill points, herbs for brewing, and any rare materials in side caves. Preview players found crafting resources off the critical path.
