Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Skill Tree
The skill tree is Survivor DNA with a classic twist: you buy power by collecting artifacts in tombs, not by grinding kills. Ignore it and you can still be Lara. Use it and the pyramid hurts less.
How points are earned
Jason Epps: artifacts scattered through levels provide points you invest in a web of weapon upgrades and ability improvements, including reduced damage and improved healing. That makes side paths matter the way secrets mattered in 1996, except the reward is a stronger Lara, not only a hidden Uzi. Designers leaned on this because Survivor progression made them feel engaged. Fans online already split into 'please no crafting trees' and 'thank you.' The official comfort line is that pistols-only remains a complete way to play.
How to spend without wasting the fantasy
If you are dying to raptors, take defense and healing first. If you are pistols-only, take whatever shortens time-to-kill so Focus is a flourish, not a crutch. If you never miss a jump, skip traversal comfort nodes. Because the tree is fed by exploration, a completionist is accidentally a stronger combatant. That is the loop the artifacts page exists to support. Pair spending with herbs so you are not asking the tree to do a meal's job.
What is still unknown
Node names, caps, respecs, and whether late artifacts can catch up a skipped Peru cave. We will not draw a fake tree. After launch this page becomes a map. Until then, treat every shiny object in a side ruin as a possible skill point and route through the walkthrough with pockets open. The weapons guide tells you which gun a node is probably for.
A spending order that will not shame you
Preview talk named reduced damage and improved healing out loud. That is your first-hour shopping list if you are dying in the valley. A pistols-only run should look next for anything that shortens time-to-kill, because Focus cannot be your only crowd tool once Greece packs human shooters into tight ruins. Traversal comfort nodes, if they exist, are for players who bounced off Folly-style shafts in older games — not for people who already swan-dive for fun. Do not spend a Peru artifact on a late-game fantasy. Spend it on the next ten minutes.
The tree is also a reason to read region pages with curiosity instead of speed. A cave you skip to 'save time' is a healing node you will want during the T-Rex chase. That is the quiet joke of this remake: secrets are back, and they made them useful. Pair this page with artifacts when you are mid-chapter and wondering whether a mural is loot or wallpaper.

Frequently asked questions
Is the skill tree mandatory? +
No. It is strongly useful. Dual pistols can finish the game without a power-gamer tree.
Is this XP from kills? +
No. Artifacts are the published currency.
Can I respec? +
Not stated. Spend as if choices stick.
Why are fans upset? +
Some wanted a pure 1996 mechanical remake. The tree is a Survivor-era comfort the team kept anyway.
